A Faster Way to Create Records in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013

By - March 21, 2014

For many of us who have used Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 or Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, you will notice that creating a related record force you to bring up another window to that form. Sometimes, this is considered to be a downfall for Dynamics CRM Users because they have too many windows opened, and have to toggle between primary and related entity while filling in the information.

So as the Microsoft Dynamics CRM community voiced their need for creating related record without leaving the current form, Microsoft answered with the solution of Quick Create Form.

Quick Create Form is another out-the-box form and you can add all fields available on the main form.

You can click on the “+” symbol top of the sub-grid and bring up the Quick Create Form. In the screen below, we have the quick create for Opportunity on the Account entity.

The Quick Create Form will slide down from the top, which looks like the below screenshot.

The user will then fill the in the fields and hit save, and return back to the Account record without having to open another window.

Out-the-box Dynamics CRM 2013 Quick Create Form are available for:

  • Most system entities
  • Custom entities

This is a welcomed enhancement only available in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, which allows organizations to focus more time on their sales rather than data entry.
