Introducing the New Inventory Value Report in Microsoft Dynamics® AX 2012

By - September 18, 2012

Goodbye PIBIG report and Hello Inventory Value report!

I am sure many of you have struggled at least once or twice trying to reconcile the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger. The AX community has been demanding better inventory reporting from Microsoft, and the wait is finally over. After collaborating with the Microsoft Learning on a new Hands-On Lab: Costing and Inventory Valuation in Microsoft Dynamics® AX 2012, I had the opportunity to work closely with several key Microsoft personnel and got the inside scoop.

The Physical-Inventory-by-Item group (PIBIG) report is being wished farewell in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. It is now replaced with a bigger and better report framework called the Inventory Value Report. But wait, there’s more! Due to popular demand, Microsoft has back ported this amazing new report framework to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.

Microsoft has published several whitepapers and the new Hands-On lab that really take a deep dive into the new features. I have put a whitepaper together that brings all the basic information you need to know about this new feature together into one document. It is recommended that this report replace the PIBIG report as the mechanism for reconciling the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger as soon as possible. Check out the whitepaper and don’t hesitate to contact support@dynamicserppros.com if you have any questions or need the hot fix for AX 2009.

Read our white paper to learn more about the Installation, Interface and key functionality of the Inventory Value Report.
