Master Planning Price Alerts & Quantity Breaks

By - January 15, 2013

In an economy where the control of spending is critical to cash flow, having visibility to procurement incentives can equate to significant cost savings.  Within the Food and Beverage Industry, providing key indicators during the Planning Order process is extremely beneficial.  RSM has delivered this functionality through our integration with Dynamics AX 2012.

Master Planning Price Alerts

Within the Master Planning module of Dynamics AX, RSM has added key Price Alert indicators that purchasing personnel can utilize in order to make improved business decisions.

The indicators inform the user if there is an active purchase trade agreement for a given product.  The indicators are easy to understand and clearly illustrate the following within the Planned Orders form:

  • If the price of a purchase trade agreement is going down, there is a down pointing indicator
  • If the price of a purchase trade agreement is going up, there is an up pointing indicator
  • If there are multiple trade agreements with prices moving both up and down, then the indicator points both right and left

At any time, the user can double click the Price Alert icon and trigger the trade agreement form to open, permitting them to review the pricing options prior to firming the planned order(s).

Master Planning Quantity Break Alerts

In addition, RSM has provided a key Quantity Break alert indicator for purchasing personnel to utilize in order to make improved business decisions.  This indicator is located on the Planned Orders form and displays an icon signifying there is an active purchase trade agreement for a given product that is associated with a quantity break.  The user is immediately made aware of the fact that a larger purchase quantity will result in a reduced purchase price.for

As with the Price Alert function, the user can double click the Quantity Break icon and trigger the trade agreement form to open, permitting them to review the pricing options prior to firming the planned order(s).

The bottom line is that purchase personnel are given real-time awareness to information that can improve the overall procurement process, allowing for a more effective and efficient supply chain management effort.  Given the overall state of the economy, these key Price Alert and Quantity Break indicators provide immediate improvement to business cash flow and are extremely beneficial to managing vendor relationships, both present and in the future.
