Layer2 Cloud Connector for SharePoint and Office 365

By - January 26, 2017

Line-of-business connectivity and enterprise search are core capabilities within SharePoint that drive user adoption, productivity and ROI across the organization. The Layer2 Cloud Connector can connect SharePoint to multiple critical business applications to reach a new level of cross-team collaboration, decision making, and process efficiency.

Content stored in almost any corporate data source can be synchronized with native SharePoint lists and libraries via secure web services. Data in SQL databases, file shares, ERP/CRM/ECMS systems or other legacy platforms and on-premise applications like Microsoft Dynamics, SharePoint, Active Directory, and SAP. Cloud-to-cloud connections, e.g. to Azure, Sales force, Twitter, Facebook, Google, RSS Newsfeeds, and XML, are supported as well. All features of native SharePoint lists and libraries are completely available for your external data, such as views, filter, search, metadata, change notifications, and workflows on external data changes.

The Cloud Connector was developed to solve the specific challenges of remotely hosted disconnected systems in the cloud without any direct access to the corporate data center and very restricted feature customization capabilities.

Connection via secure web services (SSL) is only required for data exchange – not for list or library usage. Users do not have direct access to external corporate data sources. No data is exposed to 3rd-parties or clouds. Compatible with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) of the U.S. Government regarding strong encryption.

The connector can be installed on a client (e.g. Windows 8/10) or server (Windows Server 2012) directly within the corporate network, near the data source or inside DMZ with internet connectivity required. 32-bit and 64-bit systems are both supported and there is no installation or customizing required with the SharePoint/Office 365 system or on the data source side.
