Microsoft Secure Score: What is it and what does it mean for you?

What is Microsoft Secure Score?

Microsoft Secure Score is a security analytics tool that helps organizations assess and improve their security posture across Microsoft 365 workloads. It provides a numerical summary of the current state of the security configuration, user behavior, and other security-related measurements, as well as a set of recommended actions to mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities. By following the recommendations, organizations can increase their Secure Score and protect their data, devices, identities, apps, and infrastructure from cyberattacks. Microsoft Secure Score also allows organizations to compare their score with similar organizations, track their progress over time, report their improvements to leadership, and more. Microsoft Secure Score can be accessed from the Microsoft 365 Defender portal or the Microsoft Security Center.

How do I access and use Microsoft Secure Score?

To access and use Microsoft Secure Score, please see the following step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to https://security.microsoft.com/securescore
  2. Click Manage comparisons
    • Microsoft Secure Score is a representation of your organization's security posture.
  3. Fill out the Industry, Org Size, Licenses, and Regions
  4. Hold for 24 hours for Secure Score to update
  5. Download the Secure Score to view actions that can be taken to improve your organization’s security posture
