In the first half of 2019, NetSuite will be rolling out account specific domains. This feature will be activated on an account-by-account basis. Once deployed to your account, the NetSuite URLs will be updated. As part of this update, any external links will need to be updated to the new format.
The NetSuite domains will be changed from:
System.NetSuite.com
To the account specific format:
<accountID>.app.netsuite.com
Users will still log in to NetSuite from system.netsuite.com. Once the authentication completes, users will be redirected to their account-specific domain.
Account-Specific Domains for External Forms
Any links in external forms need to be updated to the new format. Examples of the pages that will need to be updated are:
-Email templates
-Online customer/case forms
-Bookmarks
-Links to the customer center
To update the links, replace “System” with “<accountID>.app.”
Example:
Old Format:
https://system.netsuite.com/app/common/custom/custrecordentry.nl?rectype=448&id=208
New Format:
https://4631665.app.netsuite.com/app/common/custom/custrecordentry.nl?rectype=448&id=208
Changing Links in Email Templates
If you are attempting to send an email and receive the following error, you will need to update the links in the email template.
“Error: Links to NetSuite record pages must include your account ID for them to work correctly”
To do so, go to Documents > Templates > Email Templates > Select the impacted template > Second click on the link and hit “Edit Link” > Update the URL.
Advantages of Account Specific Domains
Separate accounts open in the same browser:
Because the account ID is part of the domain, users can have active sessions in different accounts on the same domain, at the same time, with the same browser. This means that you can now have sessions active in production and sand box accounts at the same time.
Faster Load Times
NetSuite performance will increase due to the utilization of Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). CDNs cache frequently used content. The presence of CDNs in the global distribution network means faster page load times.
Easier Migration Between NetSuite Datacenters
An account-specific domain contains the account ID as part of the domain name, and it enables an account to be moved to different data centers for improved service. Previously the domain was specific to the datacenter.
