Navigating through NetSuite Faster (Part 3): The Navigation Portlet

The Navigation Portlet allows you to simplify your navigation to frequently used records in NetSuite. Using the portlet, you can create shortcuts to the pages you frequent and organize them into categories. These links are displayed right on your dashboard and you no longer have to comb through NetSuite menus. The navigation portlet is an easy way to enhance your dashboard in increase your efficiency in NetSuite.

To Install The Navigation Portlet SuiteApp:

  1. Go to Customization > SuiteBundler > Search & Install Bundles
  2. On the Search and Install Bundles page, enter in the Bundle ID: 186103
  3. Click Install. During the installation, you can click Refresh to get the latest status

In setting up your Navigation Portlet SuiteApp, you want to organize your shortcuts using Shortcut Categories and Groups, you can create these by going to Setup > Navigation Portlet > Manage Shortcut Group.

Once installed, roles must be given access to the following custom records (Permissions > Custom Records):

  • Navigation Categories
  • Navigation Shortcut
  • Navigation Shortcut Group
  • Navigation Shortcut Tooltip

Once you add the navigation portlet to your dashboard, you can modify the appearance by hovering in the top right of the portlet and selecting the setup menu. In addition, if one portlet isn’t enough, you can add multiple navigation portlets in your dashboard.
