Common Data Service (Current Environment): Now Outside of Solutions!

By - August 21, 2020

Have you been working hard on your Power Automate Flows for CDS/Dynamics 365 Sales outside a solution only to find better CDS connectors when you move it? Connectors with tons of cool features? Connectors that are easier to move to production? Well friend, don’t let that thought trouble you anymore. Those quality connectors are now accessible outside of your solution.

Microsoft hasn’t updated the current environment documentation to reflect this change (yet). However, it is still a great place to start if you are exploring what the connector provides you over the original connector.

With features like:

  • Current Environments only require their connection reestablished once
  • Triggers have the options for Create, Update, and delete. No more triplicate Flows!
  • The ability to call custom CDS actions and relate record

This new release has also corrected a bug that prevented you from from adding Flows utilizing the CDS Current Environment that you created a copy of back into a solution.

With the cleanliness of solution-aware Flows and the access to current environment connectors inside and out, the sky is the limit!

Happy Power Automating!
