One of the new feature released in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 is the ability to copy and paste journal entries from an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to the general ledger financial transaction entry. First, start by creating a spreadsheet. In the new spreadsheet, you need to make sure that the excel file contains the following four columns Account Description, Account, Debit and Credit. The columns need be in the same exact order otherwise you will get errors.
Copy the data in the excel spreadsheet and make sure that you don’t copy the columns headers otherwise you will receive an error when trying to paste the entries into the general Ledger financial transaction entry window.
Open Dynamics GP General Ledger Financial Transaction Entry window (Financial > Transaction> General)
Click in the Account field and click on the Paste option at the top of the menu bar.
If any errors are detected in the data you are pasting, then the GL Transactions Paste Validation Report will print and the journal entries will not be copied. You will need to revise the data in the excel spreadsheet then copy and paste the revisions into the General Ledger Transactions Entry again. In the past, I have seen errors appear in the GL Transaction Paste Validation Report due to the General Ledger Accounts not existing in Dynamics GP.
If no errors are encountered, the journal entries copied from Excel spreadsheet will get pasted into the GL Transaction Entry window.
