When attempting to install the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Service Pack 2 (12.00.1482), I received a message stating “The path specified must be an absolute path.” This message appears shortly after launching the pack and the installation stops as soon as I clicked OK.
There is one KnowledgeBase article that references this error. Article ID 974600 suggests that the path to the Dynamics.dic is not an absolute path in either the Dynamics.set or Dynutils.set. If that’s the case, I assume that would fix the problem.
Unfortunately, my SET files all had the default paths and were correct. I determined my problem was caused because I had removed several products from my Dynamics.set file. The resolution was to restore my Dynamic.set file from a backup and the service pack installed successfully. Without a backup, you would be forced to add back the products that were removed, either manually or by reinstalling the products.
A good lesson here is to confirm that you have a backup of your system and files before installing new software or a service pack. If you’d like more information on this problem or Microsoft Dynamics 2013, please contact our professionals at erp@rsmus.com or by phone at 855.437.7202.
