Let’s say you are migrating from a legacy CRM system to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online – Office 365 environment and your migration software of choice is Scribe Insight. Your source data in on a Windows Server 2003 R2 environment and so you decide to install Scribe Insight on that server. You then install the Scribe Adapter for Dynamics CRM to use as your target connection; however, you are not able to establish a connection to your Dynamics CRM 2011 Online environment to migrate your data.
The following error is what I received when trying to connect the Scribe Adapter for Dynamics CRM to a client’s Dynamics CRM 2011 Online – Office 365 organization.
Connection Error: Unable to connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM using your current settings. Please verify they are correct. The Authentication endpoint AsymmetricToken was not found on the configured Secure Token Service!
Solution:
After a while of troubleshooting this issue, it was discovered that this server was not receiving “trusted root certificate updates”, therefore, preventing Scribe from making a connection to Dynamics CRM. You need to make sure that the server is configured to receive trusted root certificates and that you have the latest updates for them. In my previous blog, Dynamics CRM 2011 Online – Office 365: Internet Explorer Certificate Errors Windows Server 2003, I discuss configuring Windows Server 2003 to receive root certificate updates. This seemed to be the culprit of several issues that I was having with regards to connecting to Dynamics CRM 2011 Online and using Scribe to migrate data.
